The Ladies Section Christmas Party was held on Thursday night.
Everyone had a wonderful night. After a lovely meal we had a sing a long, bingo and a quiz.

Congratulations to Linda McDougall who won the Ladies Championship for the 21st time by beating Dorothy Fisher 6 & 4.
The Final started last Thursday but was halted at the 8th green due to torrential rain flooding the green.
Linda and Dorothy resumed the Final yesterday at the 8th hole and despite it being cold, the sun shone and for once the rain stayed away.

Today we held a Friendly match at Greenock against Gourock Golf Club.
The Greenock team won the Stableford match by 68 points to 58 points.

Congratulations to Linda McDougall who won the Captains Salver competition today.
In testing conditions, Linda won with a great nett 74 (82 - 8 = 74).
In the evening everyone enjoyed a lovely meal at a local restaurant.

For the second time, the Ladies Championship Final between Dorothy Fisher and Linda McDougall was postponed due to the dreadful weather today.
The new date is Friday 6th September with a 1.30pm tee off.
Hopefully it will be 3rd time lucky in getting the Final played.

Yesterday we held the Captain's Flag Day and what a beautiful day it turned out to be.
Whilst the competitors took to the fairways in the afternoon, some of our long standing members enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea with the Ladies Captain, Moira McInnes hosting the event.

Back on the fairways, congratulations to Helen Armstong who won the Flag Day with her ball finishing on th 17th green. The runner up was Sandra Cook who finished down the 17th fairway.
In the evening the competitors had a delightful meal in a local restaurant.

The annual Megawatt Trophy competition was held today and this year it was held at Greenock.
The Greenock team won the trophy and the team consisted of Moira McInnes, Morag Connelly and Anne Terrey.
The overall result was Greenock 82 points, Gourock 73 points Kilmacolm 70 points.

Congratulations to Linda McDougall who won the Inverclyde Champion of Champions competition today.
The match was played at Greenock and Linda beat Maureen Woodhead, Gourock at the 14th Hole.

Today was our Ladies Open Day and what a wonderful day we had.
Scorching temperatures of 24C made today the hottest day of the year.
Over 50 Ladies from many different clubs took to the fairways in a Greensome Stableford and everyone enjoyed the course which was looking wonderful in the Greenock sunshine.
Many thanks to Alex Jasper for being the main sponsor of the Ladies Open Day.
Our raffle raised around a magnificent £300 and proceeds from this will go towards Pancreatic Cancer Scotland.
The overall results were as follows:

2nd: Morag Key (Ralston) and Morag Little (Whitecraigs) 36 points B.I.H.

The annual Reid Rose Bowl match against Skelmorlie was played today at Greenock.
On a lovely sunny Friday, the Greenock team beat Skelmorlie 2 - 1.

On Friday night we held a Greenlees Wake at the Club.
This was to celebrate our participation in the Greenlees matches up until this year when sadly, we pulled out of the league due to insufficient numbers.
Anne Terrey was our Greenlees organiser for nearly 20 years and a special presentation was made to thank Anne for all her time and effort in getting a team for the Greenlees matches over the years.

Our Ladies Drinks Evening to celebrate the start of the 2019 golf season was held last night at the Golf Club.
Diaries were on hand with everyone busy arranging their fixtures for the season ahead.
Cath Forbes has been a member of Greenock Golf Club for 60 years this year.
To mark this wonderful achievement, Cath was presented with a lovely engraved glass goblet.
We also had a very informative video show explaining changes the Rules of Golf from the start of the year.

The first Ladies competition of the season took place today with a 14 Hole Stableford.
6 Ladies took to the fairways, Anne Terrey who had the honour of teeing off first, Moira McInnes, Rosetta Quinn, Morag Connelly, Kerri McGill and Dorothy Fisher
The winner was Kerri McGill with 25 poiints and the runner up was Morag Connolly with 22 points.
The sun came out in the afternoon and it really was a lovely day for golf.
Hopefully many more lovely sunny days to come this season.
