Last night we held our Ladies Section Christmas Party at the Golf Club.

We had a lovely meal and the Raffle draw was good fun thanks to Moira McInnes and Linda.

Ladies Christmas Party, Wednesday 13th December

This year the Ladies Christmas Party is on Wednesday 13th December at 7 for 7.30 pm.

It's an event not to be missed and the menu is noted below.

Tonight we held the Ladies A.G.M. at the Golf Club and 19 Ladies attended the meeting.

Morag Connelly, the Lady Captain for the last 2 years retired tonight and our new Lady Captain is Linda McDougall.

2 new members were elected to the Ladies Committee, Eleanor Hulme and Kerri McGill.

Our Ladies Christmas party will be held on Wednesday, 13th December

Congratulation to Linda McDougall on winning the Hugh Campbell Quaich at Greenock Golf Club's 39th Charity Tri-Am competition held yesterday.

In dreadful conditions, Linda scored an excellent 35 points.

Yesterday we held our Captain v Secretary match.

For once this year the sun shone brightly and despite a rather wet course, it was lovely to be playing in sunshine once again.

Amazingly the game ended in a very friendly draw and we all enjoyed our evening meal in the Clubhouse after the match.

Our last Greenless game this season was a home match against our friends at Cawdor Golf Club.

With so much rain over the last few weeks, conditions underfoot were very wet.

The final score was a very friendly draw.

Today's Autumn Meeting competition has been postponed.

Heavy thundery downpours this afternoon meant several of the greens quickly became flooded making putting out impossible.

The competition has been rescheduled to Thursday 7th September......hopefully the sun will shine that day.

Our last away Greenlees match this season was held today at Lenzie Golf Club.

Squally and windy conditions made playing a challenge but mid way through the afternoon blue skies and sun finally appeared.

Congratulations to Moira Paul who won the Captain's Salver competition today with a nett 74. Runner up was Morag Connelly with a nett 76.

Congratulations to Linda McDougall who won the Ladies Championship 4&3 for the 19th time today.

Mo Neilson, a previous champion was the runner up.

Weather conditions were poor and some of the greens had to be cleared of standing water.

We had a home Greenlees match today against Hilton Park Golf Club.

The forecast was for rain in the afternoon, but the rain only lasted a couple of holes. Blustery winds perhaps kept the worst of the rain away. It was a victory for the Greenock team.

Today was Captain's Flag Day and with a promising westher forecast, the players took to the fairways in the early afternoon,

Back at the Clubhouse, our Captain Morag held a delightful afternoon tea for 13 Ladies from the Club - both past and present members.

The overall winner of the Flag Day was Anne Terrey who took the Flag to the 17th hole and the runner up was Helen Armstrong.

It was a wet drive down the M77 today for our Greenless match at East Renfrewshire Golf Club.

The forecast was for a dry afternoon. Gradually the rain eased as tee off approached and after a short delay in clearing the greens of water, the matches got underway. The course was very wet but the greens were true and the forecast was correct with the rain more or less staying off until the matches finished.

The final result East Renfrewshire 6 - Greenock 1.

Our second away Greenlees match this year was at Cowglen Golf Club,

Windy conditions made for an interesting day, but unfortunately the Greenock team were well beaten in the match.

Today was Ladies Open Day at Greenock Golf Club and 50 Ladies played in the Stableford Greensome.

It was a humid day with a slight breeze - the greens looked wonderful.

Congratulations to Ann MacPhail and Rosetta Quinn who won the competition with 37 points.

The raffle raised a wonderful £300 and this will be spit equally between Greenock Medical Aid Society and Alzheimer Scotland (Greenock branch).

The Greenlees team had a short journey up the motorway for the first away match this season at Erskine Golf Club.

By the time the first matches teed off the wind had increased making it very gusty. Several heavy showers engulfed the course but soon the grey skies cleared, the wind died down and the sun came out making it feel rather warm. Some views of the course can be seen below.

Two for One

In the space of 3 days we had 2 ladies celebrating a Hole in One!

On the Monday in the Stableford competition, Moira McInnes had a Hole in One at the 10th hole.

Then on Thursday, Anne Terrey had a Hole in One at the 16th hole in the April medal.

The Greenlees season got underway today with a home match against Bothwell Castle Golf Club.

Sunny skies and a slight breeze made lovely conditions for golf. With hardly any rain in the last 10 days, the course had plenty of run but the greens were fast and tricky making the putting very difficult.

Greenock started the season with a victory.

The final score Greenock 5 Bothwell Castle 2.

The Club is hosting a Silent Auction in the Clubhouse on Friday 19th May and everyone and their friends are invited to come along and join in the fun.

Donations of any useful items which can be auctioned may be handed in at the Bar or Secretary's office from Friday 5th May.

Proceeds from the Auction will go to club funds, so come along and support the Club and perhaps pick up a bargain.

The Ladies golfing season got underway today with a 14 Hole Stableford competition.

On a beautiful Spring like day, 2 competitors took to the fairways - Sandra Macdougall and Linda McDougall.

Congratulations to Sandra who won the competition with 23 points followed by Linda with 18 points.

Last night we celebrated the start of the golf season by holding our annual Drinks Night at the Club.

Everyone had their diaries at the ready to fix up the forthcoming competition.

It was great to catch up on all the news from everyone over the Winter.
